Cape Town City Season Review: Calamitous season ends in relegation for the Citizens
Cape Town City had a disastrous campaign in the 2024/25 Betway Premiership, succumbing to relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship for the first time.
The Citizens were relegated from the Betway Premiership via the promotion/relegation play-offs as they conceded their status to Orbit College.
Andries Ulderink had been expected to take charge of the club and even took a few training sessions prior to the play-offs but ultimately decided to join Bayer Leverkusen.
The club had been on the lookout for a new head coach after sacking Eric Tinkler in December 2024. Muhsin Ertugral was brought in on an interim basis but only lasted until March, leaving First Team coach Diogo Peral in charge, alongside Roger Da Sa.
While Comitis is yet to name his new manager, some publications say former De Graafschap head coach Jan Vreman is the man the City chair is referring to when he said on Marawa Sports Worldwide: "We're working around the clock to see what the possibilities are.
"We've already got our new coach who's arrived in the country for next season, either way."
City are next in action in the dead-rubber play-off game with Casric Stars on Monday.
