Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye in dreamland following PSL promotion

Makhoye's charges needed a win to secure their place in the South African top-flight and ultimately got their all-important goal through Letsie Koapeng in the 47th minute.

For City, a draw would have been enough ahead of their final match with Casric Stars, but they could find no way past the North West team.

The Citizens will now compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship for the first time since they were founded in 2016.

Speaking after Wednesday's game, Makhoye, who has been at the club since its inception, revealed it was always his dream to reach the Premier Soccer League.

He said in the Citizen: "I wanted to create a legacy, I said one day we must promote this team to the NFD (Championship) and take them to the PSL (Premiership).

"I dedicate this to the people of the North West. We are like Moses, we have taken them from Egypt to the land of milk and honey. I am so proud of these boys."

Makhoye added: "When we signed Koapeng, (Tshepo) Matsemela and (Moikhomotsi) Thibedi in January, we brought them for their experience.

"We were the second best team in the NFD, (we) deserve to be here, (we) took [league winners] Durban City to the last day (of the regular season). We knew this was our moment."
