Jonathan Tah fired up for Bayern Munich challenge after World Cup disappointment

The defender made his first appearance of Bayern Munich's pre-season as Vincent Kompany's side cruised to a 15-0 victory over Rottach-Egern, with Tah helping the Bundesliga champions keep a clean sheet.

Tah said he was delighted to be back with his new team and was encouraged by the atmosphere within the squad.

"It was good to keep a clean sheet. I'm really happy to be back here, and I immediately felt that the energy is great. It's simply a lot of fun. I'm eager to get going, and I have the feeling that all the guys feel the same way," he said.

The 30-year-old was also asked about Germany's early exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup but insisted he has already turned his attention to the challenges ahead with Bayern.

"The World Cup is in the past. I analyze things, then try to put them behind me quickly and process them rationally. That's why I'm looking forward to the new season," Tah said.

The experienced centre-back believes Bayern's approach during pre-season is straightforward, with the players concentrating on improving every day under Kompany.

"It's about working hard every day, preparing well in every training session, and winning every game. The most important thing is to stay focused on the here and now," he said.

Bayern Munich will play their next match against Jeju United (Jeju SK FC) on Tuesday at the Jeju World Cup Stadium in South Korea. This game is part of Bayern's pre-season international Audi Summer Tour.
