Vincent Kompany sees progress despite Bayern Munich's 15-goal rout

The Bundesliga champions comfortably swept aside their amateur opponents in their traditional pre-season fixture at the end of the club's training camp in Tegernsee.

Kompany said the friendly still gave him valuable information about his squad as Bayern continue to prepare for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season.

"You can always recognise new things in games like these, even if it was only a friendly," Kompany said.

"Of course, the level will increase, but you can already see the first signs."

The Belgian coach was also pleased with the work completed during Bayern's stay in Tegernsee, saying the annual camp continues to play an important role in the club's preparations.

"You can always take a lot of positives from the training camp here at Tegernsee," he said.

"The traditional match is enjoyable and makes you look forward to the season. You really get a feeling for the Bavarian culture here."

While the scoreline grabbed the headlines, Kompany made it clear that Bayern's main objective is to improve steadily before competitive football begins.

"We're focusing on football and on continuously raising our level during pre-season," he said.

"We still don't have all the players back with us, and we're looking forward to having everyone here again soon."

Kompany also played down concerns over Vincent Manuba after the youngster appeared uncomfortable during the match.

"I think everything is okay," he said. "It's very hot, and he was probably just dealing with some cramps."

Bayern will now continue their preparations with more senior players expected to rejoin the squad in the coming days. Their next pre-season fixture is against South Korean club Jeju United at the Jeju World Cup Stadium on Tuesday as part of the club's Audi Summer Tour.
