Jude Bellingham benched as Real Madrid take no risks ahead of Bayern clash

Reports have indicated that Bellingham will not start Saturday's league fixture at RCD Mallorca and is also unlikely to be in the starting XI for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Although the England international has been medically cleared, the club have made it clear that match fitness remains a separate issue. Bellingham is still building sharpness after recovering from a muscle tear in his left leg earlier this year, and his minutes have been carefully managed since returning.

During the recent international break, Bellingham travelled to join England national football team but did not play. The decision was taken to avoid any unnecessary risk, underlining the cautious approach being applied to his recovery.

So far, he has featured only briefly since his return, with limited minutes off the bench. That pattern is expected to continue in the short term, with the club prioritising his long-term availability over immediate impact.

In his absence, Madrid have maintained balance in midfield. Federico Valverde has been deployed on the right, while Aurelien Tchouameni has taken on a deeper role. Arda Guler is also expected to contribute on the left as the team continues to function without its usual focal point.

Bellingham remains a guaranteed starter when fully fit, but Madrid's message is clear: patience now could prove decisive later, especially with a crucial European tie on the horizon.
