Jurrien Timber urges focus as Arsenal tighten grip on Premier League lead

A 1–0 victory over Crystal Palace moved Arsenal four points clear of Bournemouth and six ahead of Manchester City. "It's good to stay neutral, not to get too high," Timber said. "It's still early in the season, and we just have to keep getting better game by game."

Arsenal's form has been built on defensive solidity, with five consecutive clean sheets and only three goals conceded in 13 matches across all competitions. Timber credited that record to collective effort: "Everyone plays a part in it. It's a good foundation to build on."

The Dutch defender has impressed since returning from a long-term knee injury that sidelined him for most of last season. According to FBref, he leads the squad in passes into the penalty area and tackles attempted, and ranks among the Premier League's top defenders for ball recoveries.

Manager Mikel Arteta has described Timber as "phenomenal" and views him as central to Arsenal's title ambitions. Timber, whose contract runs until 2028, said the focus remains on consistency: "We just have to keep improving and stay grounded - if we do that, it could turn into something beautiful."
