Kaizer Chiefs bolster attack with Khanyisa Mayo signing

The 27-year-old joins Amakhosi after a brief stint in Algeria with CR Belouizdad, where he struggled for game time and was deemed surplus to requirements after just one season.

Mayo's move carries a strong family connection, as he follows in the footsteps of his father, Patrick, who represented Chiefs between 2003 and 2007. The elder Mayo initially played as a forward before transitioning into defence during his five-year stay at Naturena.

The new signing adds further firepower to a squad already reinforced by several high-profile arrivals this season, including Siphesihle Ndlovu, Lebogang Maboe, Thabiso Montane, Luke Baartman, Asanele Velebayi and Paseko Mako.

Chiefs' bold recruitment drive is already paying dividends on the pitch.

The Soweto giants have kicked off the 2025/26 campaign in scintillating fashion, winning four of their opening five matches to sit joint-top of the Betway Premiership alongside Sekhukhune United - their first opponents after the international break.

Having ended a decade-long trophy drought last season by lifting the Nedbank Cup under Tunisian tactician Nasreddine Nabi, Chiefs are now firmly setting their sights on reclaiming the league crown last won in 2015.
