Kaizer Chiefs coach calls for resilience after defeat to Gallants

Chiefs took the lead in the 10th minute with a goal from Glody Lilepo, but Gallants made a strong comeback with goals from Matome Mathiane (41st minute) and Daniel Msendami (70th minute) to secure the win.

"First of all, my apologies for the delay of the press conference. It is true that we had a talk with the players. After such a difficult position we are in, you can see that everybody is hurt, feeling down, and showing a lack of confidence," Nabi explained.

"You could feel that some players are giving up. What I told them is that there is no time to blame anyone or to regret what has happened because today's result cannot be changed.

"We have two very important games ahead of us that can still save our season. The Soweto Derby is coming next weekend, and there's the Nedbank Cup final," he added.

Despite the defeat, Nabi stressed the importance of self-reflection, urging his players to assess their performances honestly and stay focused, "We need to stick together and approach this week's preparation with our heads up."

The loss saw Chiefs drop to 9th in the standings with 30 points from 25 games, slipping outside the top eight.

The club has now gone six league matches without a win, with their last league victory coming on 4 March 2025 against Magesi FC.
