Kaizer Chiefs record first pre-season victory on tour in the Netherlands

Young forward Naledi Hlongwane was the match-winner for Amakhosi, coming off the bench to score in the 54th minute.

The South African outfit had lost the first three games of their five-match tour and the success could instill much-needed belief in the squad.

It was the home team who controlled most of the possession in the opening exchanges and came close to taking the lead in the first 15 minutes but a shot sailed wide.

Amakhosi came into the game slowly and carved an opening for new signing Flavio Da Silva but the forward saw his effort go over the cross-bar.

Chiefs continued to push after the halftime interval and the breakthrough came when a shot by Mduduzi Shabalala hit the post and substitute Hlongwane was on hand to bury the rebound.

Head coach Nasreddine Nabi again rang the changes to his starting XI, as he has done in the previous encounters, to give most in the squad some action on the field.

Brandon Peterson had to produce two fine saves to keep Amakhosi ahead while Mfundo Vilakazi had a good chance to get a second goal for the visitors but his effort was kept out in the closing stages.
