Kaizer Chiefs make it three from three with narrow win over Richards Bay
Kaizer Chiefs continued their perfect start to the Betway Premiership season with a 1-0 victory over Richards Bay at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.
Spurs were relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season and NSL rules state that players become free agents when a club is demoted from the professional ranks.
Amakhosi received a similar clearance just last week when they signed Baartman's teammate at Spurs, Asanele Velebayi.
Chiefs wrote on social media: "Kaizer Chiefs are pleased to confirm the signing of another forward, Luke Baartman, making him the Club’s ninth signing of the 2025/26 season.
"The 19-year-old junior international joins Amakhosi from Cape Town Spurs."
Baartman was the second player announced by the Soweto giants on Tuesday after the arrival of striker Etiosa Ighodaro.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward joined Amakhosi on a two-year contract with an option to extend for another season.
Chiefs' sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. said: "We warmly welcome Etiosa into the Kaizer Chiefs family.
"We're excited that he has joined our journey. His passion, work rate and dedication will surely add to the team this season and beyond.
"We look forward to creating unforgettable moments together in the Gold & Black colours of the Glamour Boys. Here’s to new beginnings and the spirit of Amakhosi."
