Magesi determined to return to Betway Premiership after gut-wrenching relegation

The Limpopo-based club's demotion was confirmed on Saturday following a 1-1 draw against KwaZulu-Natal outfit Milford in the final promotion/relegation playoff fixture at their home ground.

The result saw the two sides exchange divisions, with Milford securing promotion to the top flight while Magesi dropped into the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Dikwena tsa Meetse entered the decisive encounter knowing that only a victory would be enough to preserve their Premiership status.

They appeared on course to achieve that objective after taking the lead and carrying their advantage into the half-time interval.

However, Milford struck back after the break, finding an equaliser that ultimately proved decisive. The goal ended Magesi's hopes of extending their stay in South Africa's top division beyond two seasons.

Having finished 15th in the regular league campaign, Magesi were forced into the playoffs but were unable to secure survival.
