Mamelodi Sundowns fired up for Magesi rematch

The Brazilians recently defeated Magesi 2-0 at Seshego Stadium, a match in which the hosts were reduced to ten men following Lehlohonolo Mtshali's red card. Despite the quick turnaround, Mothiba believes playing the same opponent twice in a short space of time could work to Sundowns' advantage.

"It's not a tricky thing mentally to play them again so soon. We are professionals with a lot of experience, and it's actually a good thing because we already know how they play," Mothiba told the club's media team.

"We are ready for them. Training has been intense, and all the players are prepared for Sunday's game. We know their style - they play more direct with long balls and big strikers - so we are ready for anything."

Sundowns will also be boosted by the return of their international stars who were away on duty during the FIFA break. Mothiba said those who remained behind used the time well to sharpen their preparations.

"During the break, we worked really hard and had good sessions with the coaches and players who stayed. Now, the national team players have returned, and everyone is focused on this match," he added.

The Brazilians are currently third in the standings with 11 points from five matches. Victory on Sunday would take them to the top of the table on 14 points, one ahead of joint leaders Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs.

Magesi, meanwhile, are still searching for their first league win of the campaign. With three draws and two defeats in their opening five games, they sit 14th on the table with just three points.
