The match takes place at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Arrows enter the encounter burdened by a poor record against Galaxy, having failed to win in their last nine meetings since 2021, a streak that includes five defeats and four draws. But Mngqithi insists that history will play no part in Sunday's showdown.
"Sometimes I don't know whether it's assertiveness or arrogance, but I prefer to focus on how a team has played against me, not necessarily the team I'm coaching," Mngqithi said.
"My focus is always on the opponent in that specific match, regardless of what happened before, because history can always be turned around."
Since returning to KwaZulu-Natal based-outfit, Mngqithi has been working to restore belief and tactical discipline in an Arrows side that has struggled for consistency this season. The clash offers a perfect opportunity to end their winless run against The Rockets and reach the semi-finals of a competition known for its surprises.
Mngqithi, who guided Mamelodi Sundowns to multiple trophies during his tenure there, has brought a sense of calm authority to the Arrows camp. However, he admits that overcoming Adnan Beganovic's well-drilled Galaxy will be no easy task.
"Galaxy may be a hoodoo team to Arrows, but they have never been a hoodoo team to me," he stated confidently.
"They're a side that refuses to die, they run a lot and fight for every ball. But we must focus on the present, not the past. What matters is what we do now."
