Mason Greenwood keen to extend Olympique Marseille stay

The controversial striker is still on the books of Manchester United despite spending the last two seasons outside of England playing for Olympique Marseille this season and for Getafe in LaLiga a year ago.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the Red Devils have very little intention of giving him another shot at breaking into the Premier League side despite their struggles and Greenwood has been very open about his willingness to return to France.

The English striker has been one of the standout players in Ligue 1 this season, scoring 21 goals and providing five assists to second on the top scorer list behind Ousama Dembele, who has also scored 21 times but is ahead of Greenwood by virtue of providing one more assist.

Greenwood's form helped Marseille to a second-place finish in Ligue 1, albeit 19 points behind winners Paris Saint-Germain, and an automatic qualification into next season's Champions League. Something that will only be available at Manchester United if they win the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week.

"I hope to be here next year for the Champions League," he told Get French Football News.

"All the other players tell me that the stadium is something special. I think it's been a very positive season, we've reached our objective.

"I feel at home here. I recently had a baby here with my girlfriend. Not a lot of people get to experience that kind of thing here and with all my teammates and coaches I would like to thank them all."
