The Harambee Stars will travel to play Bafana next Friday, 13 November at the Orlando Amstel Arena before returning home to host the same nation at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Tuesday, 17 November.
Kenya, who have already automatically qualified as co-hosts of the main tournament, currently occupy third spot in Group D of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers after losing and drawing their opening fixtures while South Africa sit top of the standings with two wins from two matches.
Head coach McCarthy has now urged his side to rise to the occasion whilst applying the right approach and discipline in order to get good results.
"We have to approach these matches with the right mentality," said McCarthy to The Star.
"South Africa have quality and experience, but we must believe in ourselves and play to our strengths. We are not going there merely to participate.
"We respect South Africa, but our responsibility is to Kenya. We want to compete, get results and give our supporters something to be proud of."
The former Porto and Blackburn Rovers star named a 36-man provisional squad for the two matches last week and is expected to reveal his final squad this Friday.
