Mohamed Salah set for Liverpool return before season's end after injury scare

The 33-year-old was substituted during the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield, sparking fears he had made his final appearance for the club following his decision to leave at the end of the season. Salah's emotional exit only added to that concern.

However, Liverpool have moved to reassure supporters with an official update, stating: "Liverpool FC can confirm Mohamed Salah is expected to be available to play again before the end of this season.

"The No 11 was substituted during the second half of last Saturday's Premier League win over Crystal Palace at Anfield.

"The issue that caused his withdrawal has now been confirmed as a minor muscle injury.

"It is, however, anticipated Salah will return to action ahead of 2025-26's conclusion and his departure from the Reds this (English) summer."

The timeline raises hopes he could still feature in matches against Chelsea and Aston Villa, or make a final Anfield appearance against Brentford.

Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 257 goals in 435 appearances - behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt in Liverpool's all-time list - while winning every major trophy available.

There is also encouragement for Egypt, with Salah expected to be fit for the upcoming World Cup as he prepares to bring his Liverpool career to a close.
