Mohau Nkota reflects on Orlando Pirates journey as he joins Al-Ettifaq

The Buccaneers confirmed Nkota's departure on Sunday, announcing his transfer to Al-Ettifaq is subject to a medical. The 22-year-old is believed to have signed a three-year contract with the Saudi outfit, marking the next step in what has been a remarkable rise for the young talent.

Reflecting on his journey, Nkota extended his deepest appreciation to the coaches who nurtured him throughout his time at the club, while reserving high praises for Joseph Makhanya, describing as more than just a coach.

"To Coach Mandla Qhogi and Mxolisi Mngomezulu - thank you for believing in me and giving me a chance to chase my dream. You laid the foundation that helped me grow both on and off the pitch," he wrote.

"You've (Makhanya) been a true father figure in my life. Your guidance shaped me into the man I am today."

He also acknowledged head coach Jose Riveiro for the role he played in his development, calling his influence "immeasurable."

While excited about the journey ahead, Nkota admitted leaving Pirates wasn't easy and expressed pride in helping Pirates to major silverware and was full of gratitude for the supporters.

"This has been my home for years. I've grown here - not just as a footballer, but as a person. I'll always carry the lessons and values I learned at this great club," he added.

"To the fans - your energy, your chants, your criticism, your love... every moment helped shape my path. Playing for you was an honour."

He ended his message with thanks to the entire Pirates family, including the chairman, Irvin Khoza.

"To the Chairman, the staff, the technical team, and my teammates past and present - thank you. I'll forever cherish the black and white jersey and the legacy of the mighty Buccaneers," he concluded.

Nkota now embarks on his new journey in Saudi Arabia, leaving behind a legacy of growth, humility, and gratitude.
