Kaizer Chiefs continue unbeaten start with draw against Mamelodi Sundowns
Kaizer Chiefs continued their unbeaten start to the Betway Premiership season with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns at a packed FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.
Badela's reported fall-out with management led to his dismissal from the Chilli Boys after just two league games, including a 1-1 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns and 1-0 loss to Durban City.
Assitant coach Musa Nyatama led the team for the 4-1 defeat to TS Galaxy before his departure, leaving Mammila to oversee the side until a new permanent replacement can be installed.
Luc Eymael is reportedly set to be appointed as head coach, if he is granted a work permit.
In his first game in charge, on Tuesday, Mammila led Chippa to a 1-0 defeat away to Richards Bay to leave the club at the bottom of the standings with one point from four games.
Gabadinho Mhango scored the only goal of the game deep into first-half stoppage time.
Speaking after the match, the interim boss said in the Sowetan: "That's football – wise men always take decisions and Chippa has been in the PSL for 11 years.
"I don't think there is anyone who doubts the capabilities of the club and the chairman [Siviwe Mpengesi].
"He knows what he is doing and he knows the game. That's why the team has been there for some time."
Chippa are next in action against Orlando Pirates at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
Mammila added: "There is a big one coming up, we are in the me league 11 v11 of course, they have experience there and there. But we have capable players who can beat any team. I'm not worried about the opponent, I'm worried about my team only.
“They must just apply themselves according to how we train. We just need to roll quicker because this league is tough.”
