Nasreddine Nabi faces transfer window test at Kaizer Chiefs

Nabi, who arrived at Chiefs at the start of the recently concluded campaign, inherited a team that had already signed left-back Bongani Sam - a player he never ended up using. However, he did oversee the acquisitions of Rushwin Dortley, goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, Glody Lilepo, Thabo Cele, and Tasheeq Morris. Despite these new faces, Morris, in particular, struggled with both form and injury throughout the season.

Former Chiefs star Daniel Matsau believes Nabi deserves full authority in the transfer market to correct matters after the Soweto giants finished outside the top half of the Betway Premiership table for a second successive season.

"It was disappointing to see Chiefs not qualify for the top eight," Matsau told KickOff. "I hope the management grants the coach more time, although I know it won't be easy to secure all the players he desires. Chiefs have struggled for years to attract the players they need. It's better for a coach to fail with players he personally recommended than to keep working with an unsettled lineup."

Matsau acknowledged that Nabi has tried to find a stable starting XI by giving everyone a chance but insisted that the club's rebuilding project hinges on getting the right players in place.

Chiefs supporters will be watching Nabi closely to see if he can bring in the quality players needed to transform the club's fortunes and mount a serious challenge for the league title.

Nabi has already hinted that he plans to be active in the market, especially after paying little attention to reserve team standouts such as Sihle Tati and captain Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi - both reportedly on their way to TS Galaxy.

With the pressure on and expectations high, the Tunisian's transfer dealings could define his tenure at Naturena.
