Nico Gonzalez urges Man City to focus on themselves ahead of crucial Burnley clash

Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez has emphasized that his team must focus on themselves ahead of Premier League clash against Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

The second placed Citizens beat log leaders Arsenal 2-1 over the weekend to blow open the title race and get an opportunity to move to the top of the table for the first time in 200 days should they beat the Clarets by two goals or more.

Spanish holding midfielder Nico Gonzalez admitted his joy at the current title race situation and the chance to win the title but warned his side of a tough fixture away to relegation threatened Burnley.

“It's amazing – we can see it's close, but we have to focus on Burnley,” said Nico to the club website.

"It's going to be a nice race until the end. I really trust my team and I'm happy we are in this position. It’s going to be a really hard match – especially playing away – I'm pretty sure they [Burnley] will give everything.

"It's always really hard in the Premier League. We have to focus on ourselves."

The 24-year-old has made 37 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side in all competitions this season, scoring one goal against Liverpool in the 3-0 rout of the defending league champions in November 2025.
