Nigerian talent Christian Nwachukwu moves to Turkish 1. Lig side
Turkey based outfit Serikspor have confirmed the deadline-day loan signing of Nigerian winger Christian Nwachukwu from Sheffield United until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Speaking recently about the emotional weight of missing out on the global stage, Iwobi was asked whether he would prefer an AFCON 2025 trophy over a World Cup berth. For the 29-year-old, who played in the 2018 World Cup, the decision isn’t about personal glory—it's about his teammates' dreams.
"It's a tough one because within AFCONs, it’s a great legacy, a memorable moment," Iwobi told Pulse Sports Nigeria.
"But a lot of players haven’t been to the World Cup. I can't be selfish and say win AFCON while they miss the World Cup. So, it’s tough. I don't know."
The Super Eagles' path to the 2026 tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico remains in question following a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to DR Congo in November.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has formally challenged the result, alleging that up to six Congolese players were ineligible due to a "dual nationality trap." While FIFA rules permit nationality switches, DR Congo’s constitution forbids dual citizenship.
NFF General Secretary Dr. Sanusi Mohammed insists the case is "strong and credible" and may overturn the playoff result.
"We're waiting. The Congolese rules say you cannot have dual citizenship. FIFA was deceived into clearing them. What we are saying is the process was fraudulent," he stated.
Having just secured a bronze medal at AFCON 2025 in Morocco, Nigeria's squad is regarded as one of the continent’s most talented in recent memory. For veterans like Iwobi, the focus is ensuring this so-called “Golden Generation” doesn’t miss the sport's biggest stage.
As the NFF awaits FIFA's ruling in Zurich, fans, players, and coaching staff alike hold their breath. A positive decision could turn heartbreak into hope, sending the Super Eagles to a 48-team World Cup and giving a generation of players the chance to shine on football’s grandest stage.
