Nuno Santos felt Mamelodi Sundowns 'really' wanted him

At 26 years old, Santos brings experience at the highest levels of European football, having featured in both the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League prior to joining the South African giants.

Santos revealed that his decision to join Sundowns was heavily influenced by head coach Miguel Cardoso, also Portuguese, citing his admiration for the manager as a key factor.

"It is the biggest (club) in the country and one of the biggest in Africa," he said, as quoted by iDiski.

"I felt like the club really wanted me [and] when you know that, it's easy to me make that decision.

"He (Cardoso) has influence for sure because it's easier when you're in Portugal, Europe there's not so many players that come to South Africa and have a Portuguese coach that speaks the same language.

"He can advise me, how the things are."

Since his arrival, Santos has made an immediate impact in continental competition. The midfielder has already netted three goals, all coming in the CAF Champions League, showcasing his knack for delivering in crucial moments.

His most notable performance came in Sundowns' 3-1 victory over St. Eloi Lupopo, where he played a pivotal role in orchestrating play and contributing to the scoreboard.

Santos' presence adds both creativity and a goal threat from midfield, providing Sundowns with an additional weapon as they chase domestic and continental honours.

The club's management and fans alike are optimistic that his European pedigree and familiarity with Cardoso's tactical approach will strengthen the squad's cohesion and attacking options.
