Orlando Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha eyes breakthrough season
Orlando Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha has set his sights on both club success and a place in Bafana Bafana's final squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The 27-year-old Nigerian centre-back suffered a tibia and fibula fracture last September and has been in recovery ever since.
He missed the Buccaneers' pre-season tour to Spain but has since joined his teammates in training ahead of their MTN8 quarter-final clash with Polokwane City on August 2.
Ndah told eNCA: "I'm ready to go. It's been a long time out, and I had to go through a lot of rehabs.
"Honestly, it feels like I'm playing for the first time again because it's been so long. Just being able to train with the team again has been a great feeling."
It is unclear if Ndah will play any part in their season opener but he is just happy to be back involved with the team again.
"I’ve missed the fans, the stadium atmosphere, everything," he explained. Heading into the MTN8, we know how important it is. Every competition matters, but right now, we’re taking things one day at a time.
"I don't mind winning it over and over again. The feeling never changes. This is a big club with high expectations, and this season, we're going for everything."
