Oliver Kahn tips Michael Olise for Ballon d'Or after standout Bayern Munich season

Olise, 24, has been one of Bayern's key players this season, producing 18 goals and 25 assists without penalties and emerging as one of the most decisive attackers across Europe's top five leagues.

The France international has played a central role in Bayern's push for silverware on multiple fronts, with the Bundesliga title within reach and the club also through to the semi-finals of both the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League, where they are set to face Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking to Sky Sport, Kahn said Olise's recent form had put him firmly in the frame for the game's top individual honour.

"When you look at his performances in recent weeks, Michael Olise is clearly on track for the Ballon d'Or," said the former Bayern goalkeeper.

Kahn also reflected on his own experience with the award, recalling how close he believed he had come to winning it before ultimately missing out.

"I thought I had won it," Kahn said with a laugh. "If I remember correctly, I was invited, I said: 'OK, I've won this thing,' and I went there. Then I got the news, and I was a bit annoyed."

Olise's form has drawn widespread attention across Europe, particularly after a series of impressive displays in the Champions League, where he has been among the competition's standout performers.

The winger's rise has also strengthened expectations that he will play a major role for France under Didier Deschamps as Les Bleus build towards the next World Cup.

For now, Bayern's pursuit of a treble offers Olise the platform to further strengthen his case, with Kahn's comments adding to growing recognition of the former Crystal Palace player's impact on the European stage.
