Sekhukhune United held by TS Galaxy in Betway Premiership draw
Sekhukhune United were held to a 1-1 draw away to TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership on Sunday.
The Buccaneers, currently second in the league with 46 points from 20 games, are on a strong run of form, having gone unbeaten in their last four league outings.
Their latest result was a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Polokwane City, signalling a determined push in the final stretch of the season.
With two games in hand over league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and trailing them by nine points, Pirates are still in contention and will be eager to close the gap.
This match comes shortly after Pirates were knocked out of the CAF Champions League, which could allow them to shift full focus to domestic success.
Their opponents, Sekhukhune United, sit third in the table with 41 points from 24 matches.
Having drawn 1-1 with TS Galaxy in their most recent outing, they remain firmly in the hunt for a CAF competition qualification spot.
"This should have been the easiest of our remaining five league fixtures," said coach Eric Tinkler after the draw.
"I was counting on three points from this match before tougher ones that lie ahead, starting with a visit to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday."
With just six games left, every point is vital for the Limpopo-based side as they look to secure a place on the continental stage next season.
