Orlando Pirates confirm departures of Monnapule Saleng and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo

The club confirmed in a statement that midfielder Ndlondlo, who joined from Marumo Gallants in 2022, has left the club following the conclusion of his contract. The 28-year-old made a number of notable appearances in midfield during his three-year stint but now departs as a free agent.

"Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm the departure of midfielder Phillip Ndlondlo. The 28-year-old is now free to sign with a club of his choice. The Club extends its sincere gratitude to Phillip for his professionalism and commitment during his spell at Orlando Pirates," the statement read.

Ndlondlo leaves the Soweto giants with a reputation as a hardworking and technically sound midfielder, and he will likely attract attention in the local market.

In a separate development, the club also addressed the future of winger Saleng, whose limited involvement during the 2024/25 season had raised questions about his role in the squad. The 27-year-old made just five appearances last term, with his last outing coming in December against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.

Putting speculation to rest, Pirates confirmed that Saleng will spend the upcoming season on loan at Orbit College FC—the club where he began his professional journey.

"An agreement has been reached with Orbit College FC for the loan of Monnapule Saleng. The 27-year-old will spend the 2025/26 season with the newly crowned outfit," the club announced.

The loan move offers Saleng a vital opportunity to regain form and confidence after a difficult campaign. With Orbit College recently promoted to the Premier Soccer League and building a competitive squad under coach Pogiso Makhoye, the stage is set for Saleng to play a leading role in their debut top-flight season.

For Pirates, the departures reflect a strategic squad refresh as the club looks to recalibrate ahead of a busy domestic and continental season. More changes are expected as the transfer window unfolds.
