The Premier Soccer League confirmed that tickets were snapped up after going on sale on Friday, reflecting significant interest in the eagerly anticipated encounter.
However, supporters faced difficulties during the sales process, with the Open Tickets online platform experiencing several technical issues.
The fixture will revive memories of the 2023 MTN8 final, when Pirates defeated Sundowns at the same venue. It will also mark the 11th occasion that Moses Mabhida Stadium has staged the competition's showpiece.
Pirates enter the contest looking to maintain their remarkable grip on the tournament, having lifted the MTN8 in each of the last four seasons.
Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has no major injury concerns, while the Soweto club has featured in seven finals at the Durban stadium, winning three within 90 minutes.
Sundowns, meanwhile, are targeting their first MTN8 crown since beating Cape Town City on penalties in 2021. Miguel Cardoso's side will hope to avenge their 2023 loss, although the coach has concerns over Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and Bathusi Aubaas after all three picked up injuries while representing Bafana Bafana.
This will be Sundowns' third MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida. They have won one and lost one of their previous two, with both matches being decided by penalty shoot-outs.
