Mamelodi Sundowns take control of title race after beating Marumo Gallants
Mamelodi Sundowns moved two points clear at the top of the Betway Premiership standings after beating Marumo Gallants 3-1 at Loftus on Tuesday.

This news comes after the club suspended head coach Alexandre Lafitte for a reported 'breach of contract' alongside a poor run of form that left the club floundering at the wrong end of the Betway Premiership standings.
Lafitte joined Gallants after leading former club Stade Abidjan to a league title, and was initially successful as he led his new team to the Carling Knockout Cup final where they were unfortunate to lose to a title-chasing Orlando Pirates.
This term though Gallants have struggled for results, and the decision was made to remove Lafitte from his post in March.
Moroccan coach Jamil Benouahi was expected to replace Lafitte as head coach but he is still reportedly waiting for a work permit.
Trevor Methane and Julien Outrebon acted as co-coaches during the 3-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday evening.
A brief Gallants statement read: “Marumo Gallants FC appoints Football Manager Peter Koutroulis. Welcome to the Gallants Family.”
Koutroulis, has previously worked with numerous clubs, including Mamelodi Sundowns, Black Leopards, Chippa United, and more recently in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Casric Stars and with Magesi during their successful promotion campaign during the 2023/24 season.
