PSG boss Luis Enrique aims to reclaim Ligue 1 top spot against in-form Rennais today

PSG went into that match as overwhelming favourites, but a second-half strike from Takumi Minamino earned Monaco the points. Enrique's side finished the game with an extra man after Thilo Kehrer's late red card, yet they still failed to find a breakthrough. "We created enough, but we lacked the precision required at this level," Enrique said afterwards.

That defeat allowed RC Lens to climb above PSG by a single point after their win over Angers, while Marseille also slipped up against Toulouse. Enrique has said this weekend is "a chance to put things right", with PSG determined to reclaim first place before the winter schedule intensifies.

Rennes, however, arrive in outstanding form. Only a month ago, Habib Beye was under intense pressure following a six-match winless run, with some reports suggesting his dismissal was imminent. Instead, Rennes have responded with four straight Ligue 1 victories and five unbeaten in all competitions. They sit fifth and are firmly in the race for next season's Champions League. A win in Paris would also give Rennes three consecutive away victories for the first time since the 2023-24 period.

Team News

PSG

Enrique is expected to stick with the cautious approach he used last weekend, when he rotated heavily. Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Lucas Hernandez, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Fabian Ruiz all started against Monaco, though Marquinhos and Ruiz may drop out.

PSG remain without Desire Doue and Achraf Hakimi, while Nuno Mendes and Renato Marin are doubts. Hernandez is likely to continue at left-back, with Illia Zabarnyi partnering Pacho in central defence. Warren Zaire-Emery should keep his place at right-back.

Ousmane Dembele is set to lead the attack once again, supported by Lee Kang-in and Kvaratskhelia. Mayulu is in line to join Vitinha and Joao Neves in midfield.

Rennes

Beye will again be without Seko Fofana due to a thigh injury, while Mahamadou Nagida remains out. The visitors are expected to maintain the system that has fuelled their revival, with a back three of Jeremy Jacquet, Lilian Brassier and Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal ahead of goalkeeper Brice Samba.

Przemyslaw Frankowski and Mousa Tamari should operate as wing-backs, with Djaoui Cisse anchoring midfield alongside Valentin Rongier and Mahdi Camara. Breel Embolo will partner Esteban Lepaul up front.

Key Stats

Rennes have won their last four Ligue 1 matches.

Rennes are unbeaten in five league matches.

PSG have beaten Rennes in their last three meetings in all competitions.

PSG trail RC Lens by one point in the Ligue 1 standings.

Player to Watch - Ousmane Dembele

The fit-again Ballon d'Or winner has given PSG a major lift at a crucial stage of the campaign. Enrique has said Dembele's "rhythm and sharpness are improving", and his influence will be central to PSG's attempts to reassert control over the title race. With PSG needing a decisive performance to regain top spot, Dembele is the player most likely to tilt the contest in their favour.
