PSL promotion/relegation playoffs to start after dispute resolved

The playoffs were initially postponed after JDR Stars and Cape Town Spurs challenged the legitimacy of Durban City's player, Saziso Magawana, claiming he had been improperly registered.

Both clubs lodged protests with the PSL's Disciplinary Committee, but their cases were dismissed with costs.

Undeterred, they escalated the matter to SAFA arbitration, but their appeals were once again rejected, ultimately confirming Durban City as the Motsepe Foundation Championship winners after they topped the league table.

According to the league's statement, the playoffs will begin next Wednesday. Casric Stars, who finished third in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and Orbit College, who finished second, will compete alongside Cape Town City, who placed 15th in the Betway Premiership, in a bid to secure top-flight status for the upcoming season.
