Rafiu Durosinmi compared to Victor Osimhen after flying Genk start

Durosinmi has made an impressive start to the 2026/27 season in Belgium, scoring five goals in six Jupiler Pro League appearances since joining Genk from Italian side Pisa during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old endured a difficult spell at Pisa after arriving in January, struggling to make a significant impact before the club were eventually relegated from Serie A.

His fortunes have changed since moving to Genk, where he scored in four consecutive matches at the start of the campaign. His five league goals have left him joint-top of the Belgian scoring charts alongside RAAL La Louviere striker Mustapha Ubandoma.

Dosunmu, who is also Durosinmi's agent, has been impressed by the Nigerian's rapid adaptation and believes his playing style bears similarities to Osimhen.

"On matchday one, he already surprised me with what he showed after barely ten days of training," Dosunmu told Het Nieuwsblad, via Tribal Football.

"Rafiu sometimes reminds me a bit of Victor Osimhen, with the difference that he is really very strong in the air."

Durosinmi made his Super Eagles debut in May during the Unity Cup, with head coach Eric Chelle using the tournament to assess different options in attack.

With Nigeria preparing for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Durosinmi could find himself competing with Osimhen for a place in Chelle's squad.

However, Dosunmu believes there is still work to be done before the young striker reaches his full potential.
