RB Leipzig snap up young star Max Finkgrafe from FC Koln

The Red Bulls announced the transfer on Thursday, marking a significant coup for the Bundesliga side. Finkgrafe, who has already clocked valuable top-flight experience, brings athleticism and tenacity to Leipzig's backline.

"We're thrilled Max has chosen to join RB Leipzig," said Marcel Schafer, the club's managing director for sport. "His dynamism, versatility, and hunger to win make him a perfect fit.

"At just 21, he's already shown he can compete in the Bundesliga, and we believe he has the tools to grow into an even bigger role with us."

Finkgrafe expressed his excitement about the move, highlighting Leipzig's reputation for nurturing young talent. "RB Leipzig are a club that give young players a real chance to shine, and that made the decision easy," he said.

"I had great discussions with Marcel Schafer, and the club laid out a clear vision for my development. I can't wait to get started and learn from players like David Raum."

The transfer has sparked buzz among Leipzig supporters, with recent posts on X praising Finkgrafe's work rate and potential to compete for a starting spot alongside Raum, a Germany international. One fan account noted, "Finkgrafe's energy is exactly what we need to push for silverware this season."

Leipzig's former head coach Marco Rose also weighed in on X, stating, "Max is a fighter with huge upside. He's going to add real depth and quality to our squad."

The move signals Leipzig's intent to strengthen their defensive unit while investing in youth, as they aim to challenge for honors in the Bundesliga and beyond.
