Report: Alexander Isak faces colossal Al-Hilal offer but eyes Liverpool move

The Swedish forward reportedly has his sights set on a blockbuster move to Premier League champions Liverpool. The 25-year-old, who scored 27 goals in 42 appearances during the 2024/25 season, has informed Newcastle he wants to explore his options, despite three years remaining on his contract.

Isak's electric form has established him as one of Europe's premier strikers, making him a prime target for elite clubs. Newcastle have slapped a 150 million pound price tag on their talisman, signaling their determination to keep him.

However, his desire for a new challenge could tilt negotiations, with Liverpool poised to capitalize on his availability.

The Reds have already invested nearly 300 million pounds in new signings, including Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong. While Ekitike's 79 million pound arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt was expected to end their interest in Isak, the striker's openness to a move has reignited their pursuit.

"Liverpool have approached Newcastle with a potential 120 million pound deal," reported The Athletic, though the Magpies have firmly rebuffed any suggestion of a sale.

Isak's ambition to compete for trophies and play in the Champions League aligns with Liverpool's status as title winners and European heavyweights. "He's keen on Liverpool, where he can chase silverware and consistent Champions League football," noted media sources, underlining his preference for Anfield over Al-Hilal's financial might.

Al-Hilal's offer, however, is staggering. Beyond the 32 million pound annual salary, it includes incentives like 3.6 million pounds for winning the Saudi Pro League, 3.8 million pounds for the Asian Champions League, and 1.75 million pounds for finishing as the division's top scorer.

Perks such as 120,000 pounds monthly for personal expenses and a private clubhouse with full-time staff further sweeten the deal.

Despite the Saudi allure, Isak's focus remains on Liverpool. Reports suggest he could submit a transfer request to push for the move, a development that would intensify pressure on Newcastle.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has tried to quell the speculation. "I sent him home due to the noise around him," Howe said after omitting Isak from a pre-season friendly against Celtic, citing a minor thigh issue. "I'm confident he'll stay, but it's tough to guarantee anything."

Newcastle's Saudi-backed owners have rejected Liverpool's advances and are "unimpressed" by efforts to unsettle their star, per reports. They had hoped to pair Isak with Ekitike, but Liverpool's signing of the Frenchman has disrupted their plans.

As the transfer window unfolds, Isak's future hangs in the balance. Will he chase glory with Liverpool, succumb to Al-Hilal's riches, or stay at St James' Park? The drama is set to escalate, with two footballing powerhouses vying for the game's hottest striking talent.
