Report: Aston Villa edge closer to Alejandro Garnacho deal with Chelsea

The proposed move is believed to be an initial loan with a conditional obligation to make the transfer permanent. The conditions are understood to be straightforward to meet, making a long-term switch to Villa Park the likely outcome.

The overall package, including the loan fee, is said to match Chelsea's valuation of the Argentina international. Chelsea were believed to be seeking around 42.6 million pounds for the 22-year-old.

Garnacho only joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer in a deal worth 40 million pounds, but he now appears set for another move after struggling to secure his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

The winger is also understood to have missed Chelsea's return for pre-season training as he looked to complete a transfer away from the club.

The proposed deal comes shortly after Chelsea signed Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa in a British-record transfer worth 117 million pounds.

If completed, the move will take place against the backdrop of UEFA's financial sustainability regulations.

Both Chelsea and Aston Villa were recently fined by UEFA for breaching the governing body's financial rules and must remain within strict spending limits to avoid further sanctions.

Chelsea are also operating under a four-year settlement agreement with UEFA, leaving the club subject to tighter financial controls despite not competing in Europe this season.

Villa's sale of Rogers significantly strengthened the club's financial position and has given them greater flexibility to reshape their squad following several departures. Garnacho is understood to be one of the club's priority targets as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his options ahead of the new campaign.
