According to BILD, Wirtz and his parents flew by private jet to Manchester on Tuesday for a secret meeting with Pep Guardiola, further fuelling speculation about a potential move.
While the exact purpose of the visit remains undisclosed, the meeting has sparked intense rumours that Manchester City are attempting to outmanoeuvre Bayern Munich in the race for the 21-year-old's signature.
Both clubs are believed to be at the front of the queue, but City's personal touch could give them the edge.
Several top European sides have expressed concrete interest in the Germany international, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Leverkusen this summer. Wirtz recently hinted at a possible transfer by saying he is ready to step out of his "comfort zone".
City reportedly view Wirtz as a long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne and are prepared to pay around 100 million euros for his services, according to Sky Sports Germany.
However, if Bayern Munich attempt to sign him, Leverkusen are expected to demand a higher fee - potentially up to 150 million euros - due to their domestic rivalry.
