Report: Pep Guardiola set for Man City exit on Sunday

According to reports, Guardiola will take charge of City's final matches of the season against AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa before officially stepping away from the Etihad Stadium.

The 54-year-old added another trophy to his glittering collection on Saturday when City defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley. That victory could prove to be the final silverware of Guardiola's extraordinary decade in Manchester.

City still remain in the Premier League title race, although their hopes are slim. Guardiola's side must win their remaining matches and hope Arsenal drop points against Crystal Palace.

Since arriving in 2016, Guardiola has transformed City into a dominant force in English and European football. Under his leadership, the club won six Premier League titles, including a historic run of four consecutive championships. He also guided City to their first UEFA Champions League crown, alongside three FA Cups, five League Cups and three Community Shields.

Reports suggest City have already begun informing key figures connected to the club ahead of an official announcement expected after Sunday's matches. Guardiola's achievements are then expected to be celebrated during an open-top bus parade through Manchester on Monday alongside the men's squad, women's team and academy players.

Former Leicester City and Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has emerged as a leading contender to replace Guardiola. Maresca previously worked under Guardiola during City's treble-winning 2022-23 campaign before moving into senior management.

Before joining City, Guardiola enjoyed hugely successful spells with FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich. He won multiple league titles in Spain and Germany and lifted the Champions League twice with Barcelona.

Although City suffered heartbreak in the 2021 Champions League final against Chelsea, Guardiola finally delivered European glory in 2023 when his side defeated Inter Milan to complete a historic treble.

If this truly is Guardiola's final week at Manchester City, he leaves behind a legacy that reshaped both the club and the Premier League itself.
