Richards Bay take massive step towards survival with TS Galaxy win

Lindokuhle Zikhali scored the only goal of the game at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium after 51 minutes.

The goalscorer was then dismissed just three minutes later for picking up a second yellow card.

The result lifted the Natal Rich Boys into 11th place with 29 points; six points clear of Cape Town City in the relegation/promotion places.

The Rockets ended the afternoon on 34 points in fifth place.

Neither side was overly adventurous in the first half, with Galaxy just about edging their opponents in terms of possession.

Both Kamogelo Sebelebele and Victor Letsoalo looked for options to create in attack but neither goalkeeper was particularly threatened in the opening period.

But it didn't take long for that to change at the start of the second half as Zikhali picked up a ball inside the box, before shaking off his marker and slotting the ball home past an advancing Ira Tape in the Galaxy goal.

The home team looked to respond and thought they had won a penalty, after the referee pointed to the spot, only to see him to reverse the decision due to an offside flag.

Bay held on for a massive three points with just two games of their season to play, while Galaxy will hope to secure their top-eight place with one match remaining.
