The South African coach famously joined the Buccaneers for a couple of years from Mamelodi Sundowns before returning to manage the Brazilians.
After guiding Downs to four league titles and a African Football League trophy, the 38-year-old took up the challenge of leading Wydad in the Botola Pro last season and guided his team to a third place finish.
The Moroccan giants decided against keeping Mokwena on, and he has since been linked with a move to Bucs.
Mokwena told Soccer Africa: "I don't know, I've just arrived back in the country. To be honest I don't know [about Pirates].
"Of course I would consider it," he said. "It's a big club and it's still got people who are very close to me and to my heart.
"I'm very, very fond of Doctor Khoza, very fond and he will always have a special place in my heart.
"I've been fortunate enough that as a coach I've learnt a lot from three of the best football leaders on the continent – Dr. Khoza number one, for sure, general knowledge, geography, football, humanity, everything, religion.
“And that changes your life completely. Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the things that he thought me… The third is the president of Wydad, Hicham Ait Menna an unbelievable human being, I really enjoyed my time working for the president of Wydad.”
