Kaizer Chiefs' starlet makes US switch
Kaizer Chiefs have announced the departure of talented young wing-back Chukwudi Luvuno.
The news was confirmed on Friday afternoon, with the Buccaneers extending their gratitude to both players for their commitment and contributions.
This takes the number of exits at Pirates to four, following the earlier departures of Miguel Timm and captain Innocent Maela - the club's longest-serving member.
"The Club thanks them for their commitment and contribution to Orlando Pirates. Wishing them the very best in their next chapter," wrote the Buccaneers on their social media platforms.
Mako's contract is set to expire at the end of June. With reduced playing time under the now-departed coach Jose Riveiro, the 31-year-old is set to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
The versatile defender joined Pirates from Chippa United in 2018 and was a key member of the team for several seasons.
Meanwhile, Monyane, who came through the Buccaneers' academy and was promoted to the first team in 2019, has struggled with injuries and inconsistent game time. His contract also ends on June 30, making him a free agent.
The 25-year-old right-back is now linked with a potential move to arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs, who are in a rebuilding phase under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Chiefs are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season, and Monyane's experience and potential versatility could fit well into their plans.
