The Taifa Stars will face Hugo Broos' men at Peter Mokaba Stadium as part of their preparations for the COSAFA Cup in Bloemfontein. Tanzania will open their group C campaign against Madagascar on Saturday before taking on Eswatini four days later.
Tanzania, participating as a replacement for Morocco in this year's COSAFA Cup, are aiming to secure their first-ever title in the 14-team regional tournament. Salum, expected to be a key figure in their midfield, will be pivotal to their ambitions.
Known affectionately as 'Fei Toto' in his homeland, the Zanzibar-born playmaker first came under the tutelage of current Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi during his time at Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga), according to Sportswire.
Salum was the second-highest scorer in the 2023/24 Tanzanian Premier League season, netting 19 goals - just two behind former Yanga teammate Stephane Aziz Ki, who recently joined Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club.
In the current 2024/25 campaign, Salum has already scored four goals and leads the league's assists chart with 13, four more than his nearest competitor, Max Nzengeli.
Alongside Chiefs, Salum has reportedly attracted interest from Mamelodi Sundowns, the Betway Premiership champions, as well as Simba SC, coached by Fadlu Davids, who are also in pursuit of the 27-year-old.
Having signed a three-year contract with Azam FC in July 2023 after leaving Yanga, Salum's performances against Bafana and in the COSAFA Cup could prove crucial in accelerating a move to one of South Africa's PSL giants.
