Siyabonga Nomvethe endorses Fiston Mayele as Kaizer Chiefs' ideal striking solution

Nomvethe, affectionately known as "Bhele", believes the Congolese marksman has all the qualities needed to solve Chiefs' long-standing goal-scoring woes.

"You have to work hard to get a striker. You need someone who will give their best, someone who always wants to improve," Nomvethe told FarPost.

"It's not easy to find a good striker, but Chiefs need to go all out in securing one. When you look at this African guy [Mayele], he has everything. He just needs the right teammates around him."

Nomvethe also expressed his delight at Kaizer Chiefs finally ending their decade-long trophy drought by clinching the 2024/25 Nedbank Cup title.

"I was happy when the team won the trophy because it had been 10 years without anything," he said.

"It was a big moment for the club to bring home some silverware. They had become a laughing stock, and it's not easy playing for a club that people no longer take seriously.

“Yes, there are good and bad times, but what the guys did showed they're determined to come back stronger.”
