Stellenbosch coach Gavin Hunt disappointed to score three goals and still draw with Polokwane

Hunt's side were behind after 16 minutes as Giovanni Philander broke through the Stellies' defence.

Sinoxolo Kwayiba levelled with his goal on 22 minutes, and Hunt's charges were briefly ahead on the hour mark as Devin Titus fired home.

But Surprise Manthosi (67') and Raymond Daniels (75') both scored before Ashley du Preez secured a share of the spoils with less than 10 minutes of the match remaining.

Stellenbosch have now drawn one and lost one of their two opening games of the new season, after going down 1-0 to AmaZulu last week.

Speaking after the game, Hunt said on SuperSport: "Nobody comes and scores three goals against Polokwane City and draws the game. You should be winning the game.

"So, I mean, I'm disappointed to draw the game. I thought we were really good in the first half, played some good football. We really had them on the ropes in the first half. They came back, obviously.

"And then the disappointing goals we conceded, real soft goals. But they're physical and they're hard work inside. But as I say again, nobody comes here and scores three goals and draws. We've got to win a game like that."

"Obviously lost last week 1-0. You know, to score three goals away from home like that — some good goals — is obviously good," Hunt added.

"But defending, a lot to be desired. And if you can't defend in football, you've got no chance. Like I said, when I came here last year, we were conceding goals at the rate of a dozen.

Stellenbosch next play Marumo Gallants at Athlone Stadium on Friday.
