Tammy Abraham completes rapid return to Aston Villa after Besiktas switch

The 28-year-old forward spent this season on loan with the Turkish club, who activated a 13 million euros purchase option on Monday. That move was immediately followed by a lucrative sale to Villa, with Besiktas confirming they received 21 million euros for the England international.

Abraham arrives at Villa Park having impressed during his brief stint in Istanbul, scoring 13 goals in 26 appearances. The deal represents a significant profit for Besiktas and brings Abraham back to a club where he enjoyed a productive spell earlier in his career.

The striker previously played for Villa during the 2018–19 season on loan from Chelsea, playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League from the Championship. He now returns to a very different environment, with Emery's side firmly established among the league's leading contenders.

A Chelsea academy graduate, Abraham broke into the Blues' first team under Frank Lampard before moving to Roma in 2021. He scored 39 goals in 120 matches for the Serie A club and was part of the side that won the Europa Conference League under Jose Mourinho in 2022.

Speaking in a video released by Aston Villa, Abraham said the club had played an important role in his development.

"Some clubs play a big part in your journey and stay with you," he said. "I've scored goals, faced challenges, and grown as a player and as a man. I'm back at Aston Villa, ready to work and give everything."

Abraham, who has 11 England caps, becomes Villa's latest addition as they continue to strengthen in pursuit of their ambitions at the top end of the Premier League.
