'There are no limits to my coaching career', says Jose Riveiro as he ponders next coaching role

'There are no limits to my coaching career', says Jose Riveiro as he ponders next coaching role

The Spaniard led Orlando Pirates to five trophies in his three seasons with the Betway Premiership club before making the switch to the Egyptian Premier League.

But he only lasted three months with Al Ahly after a poor start to their season, and was swiftly replaced by former Genk, Copenhagen and Augsburg manager Jess Thorup.

During an interview on MSW, Riveiro explained that he would be open to a number of roles.

He said: "It's difficult to say [where I'd like to coach next] but the intention is to maybe or hopefully [coach] in Europe but I never say no to Africa, Middle East or USA."

Riveiro moved to end speculation that he left Pirates to be closer to his family.

"I've been already 11 years abroad from home since 2014. There was a narrative as a well about me missing my country and family and stuff like that. That's not even close to be true," the coach added.

"Obviously, I'm not a rock or a brick, I'm human. But when you decide to be a football coach, you have to assume some certain things and this is one.

"My decision is not gonna be determined by the kilometres between me and my home in this case. It's gonna be related with so many things.

“That time will come because I still want to continue coaching. I'm still young, I'm 48 years old. I think I can still give something to the game.”
