Vinicius Junior mends rift with Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso after Clasico outburst

Vinicius Junior mends rift with Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso after Clasico outburst

The Brazilian was substituted in the 72nd minute of Madrid's 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu and was visibly frustrated as he left the pitch.

His reaction drew criticism from supporters and pundits, who viewed it as disrespectful towards his teammates and the club's collective spirit.

Vinicius later admitted his mistake and issued a formal apology on social media, writing that his behaviour had been "driven by emotion" and that he had "great respect" for Alonso and the entire squad.

Spanish journalist Jose Luis Sanchez has reported that Alonso felt "very satisfied" with the player's decision to take responsibility.

According to sources close to the club, the Madrid boss believes Vinicius's apology showed maturity and accountability, and that the incident could ultimately strengthen the relationship between the player and the coaching staff.

"Football is full of emotion, especially in matches like El Clasico," Alonso reportedly told club officials. "What matters most is how we respond afterwards."

Real Madrid are not expected to take disciplinary action, with both Alonso and the board viewing the issue as resolved. Instead, the focus has shifted back to unity and performance, as Madrid prepare for their upcoming La Liga fixture against Real Betis this weekend.
