Terrier, who was acquired for €20 million, showcased his value early by netting the opening goal in the 17th minute. He also contributed significantly to another goal, demonstrating why coach Xabi Alonso had high hopes for him.

Alonso was full of praise for Terrier, highlighting his versatility and skill. "Martin has this great quality to play well in tight spaces and also to score goals in the penalty area," Alonso remarked after the match.

Terrier, who operates effectively both centrally and on the wings, has quickly adapted to Alonso's tactical approach, proving to be a key asset in Leverkusen's attacking setup.

In addition to his footballing prowess, Alonso commended Terrier's work ethic and eagerness to improve. "He's a good guy, a good boy who wants to improve and learn," Alonso noted.

Despite Terrier's recent arrival, Alonso's expectations remain high, reflecting his belief in the Frenchman's potential. "It was only his third game, but my expectations are even higher. We have a very, very good player in Martin," Alonso added.

Meanwhile, Victor Boniface also made headlines with his performance. After setting up the opener, the Nigerian international scored twice, marking his first goals of the season.

Alonso emphasised the significance of Boniface's second goal, stating it was "very important for the striker's confidence and mood." The coach acknowledged the striker's strong performance but also pointed out areas for improvement, particularly in defensive efforts.

"He can and must do more. He knows it and the team needs it," Alonso said.

Both Terrier and Boniface's impressive displays not only secured a crucial win but also boosted their confidence ahead of Leverkusen's upcoming Champions League clash against Feyenoord Rotterdam.
