Zesco coach stays positive after narrow Kaizer Chiefs defeat

The Soweto giants completed a double over the Zambian outfit courtesy of a first-half strike from Glody Lilepo, a result that left Zesco still searching for their first win in the group.

However, Ndhlovu believes the performance showed enough promise to keep their qualification hopes alive with two matches still to play.

Reflecting on the defeat, Ndhlovu felt his side executed their game plan well but were undone by decisive moments.

"I think we approached the game very well, but football is about moments and how you utilise them, especially when it comes to scoring," Ndhlovu told SABC Sport.

"We reacted after conceding to Kaizer Chiefs and I think that is an area we need to improve on, particularly the runs we make. Congratulations to Kaizer Chiefs," he added.

Despite their winless run in the competition, Ndhlovu insisted the Zambian champions are far from out of contention.

"We need to build from this. This is football, it's not the end. We will come back stronger as we continue working on the areas of concern," he said.

Ndhlovu also shed light on the working relationship between himself and head coach Emmanuel Siwale, who is currently unable to sit on the bench due to CAF coaching regulations.

"Technically and tactically we work very well together. It's just a matter of understanding the protocols," Ndhlovu explained.

"There is no pressure at all. We are coordinating well and focusing on pushing the team forward. The issues around protocols can be dealt with later, but so far things are going well."
