'Sad, disappointed, gutted': Greg Norman admits he'd rather see LIV Golf end

The Australian was the original CEO of the rebel golf tour when it launched in 2022 before being replaced in 2025. Now, with the Saudi-backed venture facing an uncertain future, Norman has questioned whether it can survive in its current form.

Although the league has since reached an investment agreement with a private equity firm, players face a reduced schedule and significantly smaller prize purses.

Speaking to Skratch, Norman was candid about his disappointment at the direction LIV has taken.

"I'm sad, disappointed, gutted to be honest," he said.

"I hate to see it wither away. I would rather just see it end."

Norman also reflected on the camaraderie among the players and staff during LIV's early years, when they believed they were building something that could fundamentally change professional golf.

"We were a family. We were united by the feeling that we were doing something new and exciting for the game of golf," he said.

"It took an unbelievable amount of effort, and there were constant headwinds, but we did it because we believed in the vision."

That vision has ultimately fallen well short of what Norman and LIV's early backers had in mind.
