Cameron Young claims first PGA Tour victory with dominant Wyndham Championship win
Cameron Young captured his first US PGA Tour title on Sunday, clinching a six-shot victory at the Wyndham Championship with a final-round 68.
The Norwegian golfer shared an x-ray on Instagram over the weekend, showing what looks like a broken pinky toe. “Bed frame 1 - 0 me,” Hovland captioned the photo.
The Ryder Cup star is scheduled to compete in the PGA Tour's season-opening Sentry event in Maui this week, and as of now, he remains listed in the field. According to Eurosport, Hovland is relying on painkillers and tape to manage the injury, although Kapalua's Plantation course is known for being one of the toughest walks on the tour due to its mountainous terrain.
Hovland, 27, won the FedEx Cup in 2023 but had a mixed season with only two top-10 finishes in 16 starts, following a series of swing adjustments. Despite the challenges, he remains inside the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking and earned an invite to Maui thanks to finishing 12th in the FedEx Cup standings, aided by a third-place finish at the PGA Championship and a T-2 at the playoff-opening event in Memphis.
Hovland's injury follows a similar setback for Scottie Scheffler, who suffered a hand injury on Christmas and will be sidelined for at least a month.
