Report: Alexander Isak's exit talks spark Newcastle's Benjamin Sesko swoop

In response, the Magpies are actively exploring a deal for RB Leipzig's prolific forward Benjamin Sesko as a possible replacement, according to multiple reliable sources.

The 25-year-old Isak, who scored an impressive 23 goals in 34 Premier League matches last season, has expressed a desire to explore new opportunities, as reported by transfer insider Fraser Fletcher. "Isak has told Newcastle he wants to leave for Liverpool," Fletcher revealed on X.

This bombshell was corroborated by leading journalists, including Fabrizio Romano, who noted, "Alexander Isak has informed Newcastle of his desire to explore a move this summer."

Liverpool, fresh off securing Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike for 79 million pounds, remain keen on Isak, with sources indicating they could prepare a record-breaking 120 million-pound bid. Romano added, "Liverpool have confirmed to Newcastle their intention to present a record bid for Isak, but it depends on Newcastle changing their stance."

However, Newcastle have set a staggering 150 million-pound valuation on their talisman, a figure that would shatter the Premier League's transfer record if met.

Amid this uncertainty, Newcastle are not standing still. David Ornstein of The Athletic reported, "Newcastle United are exploring a move for Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig in case Alexander Isak leaves." The 22-year-old Slovenian, who netted 21 goals for Leipzig last season, has long been on Newcastle's radar.

Ornstein emphasized, "The 22-year-old RB Leipzig forward is a top target should Isak depart, though the deal is challenging from a financial perspective."

Fabrizio Romano further clarified Sesko's situation, stating, "There's a gentlemen's agreement between Benjamin Sesko and RB Leipzig. The price tag for select clubs could be reduced to a range of 70-80 million euros plus 5-10 million euros in add-ons."

This could see Newcastle paying up to 90 million euros to secure the young striker, provided they are deemed a "special" club by Sesko's camp.

Newcastle's proactive approach extends beyond Sesko. The club are also in talks for Brentford's Yoane Wissa, with Romano noting, "Newcastle are informed on Sesko deal costs while working on multiple deals, including Wissa from Brentford." This suggests a strategic plan to bolster their attacking options, especially with their return to the Champions League looming.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have also entered the race for Sesko, with sources indicating the Slovenian "wants a move to Old Trafford" despite their lack of European football next season. However, Newcastle's swift action could see them outmaneuver their rivals.

Eddie Howe, Newcastle's manager, has remained cautious about Isak's future, previously stating, "It would be very silly to make promises about any player's future." The club's hierarchy, backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, have consistently stressed their desire to retain Isak, with a source close to the club saying, "Those at the very top do not want to lose the Sweden star."

As the transfer window heats up, Newcastle fans face an anxious wait to see if Isak stays or if Sesko arrives as a new star to lead their Champions League charge. The coming days will be pivotal for the Magpies' ambitions.
